Thanksgiving is a great time of year, no doubt. For those of us who are in charge or are being hosts, it can get a little stressful and overwhelming. This series is 14 days to an easy Thanksgiving and it will walk you through the 14 days before Thanksgiving and what you can do to get ready each day, just a little project or task that will make your Thanksgiving day EASY! Most of the things are great family time ideas and things your kids can help with too!

DAY 3 – ARRANGE AND ORGANIZE

We are now on Day 3 of the 14 Days to an Easy Thanksgiving Series.  The last couple days we worked on the planning and organizing of your meal. Figuring out who will be there and what you are going to be eating. Today is a fun day! Draw a small sketch of the room(s) you will be eating in and then (measure if needed) and draw in the tables and seats. Once you have your layout, figure out where people will be sitting. If you don’t want to do assigned seating, then you still need to plan out place settings so you can make sure you have enough room and plan on extras just in case.

If you are going to be having families with children, you may want to plan an area just for kids, where if they spill, its not a big deal and if they want to play while they are eating you won’t be interrupted. This is also a good time to think about how you want to do the food. Do you want a buffet style where everyone goes through and gets food and then sits down to eat? Or do you want to have all the food on the table and just pass it around? Figuring this out now will save you time later when you are having everyone bring the food in, and where they should put it.

What tips do you have for organizing the seating?
