Extreme Couponing Tip: Shopping the Sales

This seems like it would be simple enough already, but watching for items that you need on sale WILL save your family possibly half your grocery budget, maybe more!

I wanted to test this out so I went to Smith’s (a local grocery store) around Thanksgiving and got the items I needed on my grocery list that were on sale, and even some that were not on sale, but I knew were a good price anyways.

Later that day we went to Wal-Mart and I was looking for a couple of things to get with my coupons and for price matches, and I was blown away at how much more I would have spent, if I had not gone to Smith’s to get most of my other groceries. Even the regular priced items on our grocery store were still CHEAPER  at Smith’s then at Wal-Mart. I wasn’t really surprised mind you, because I know Wal-Mart isn’t always the cheapest. I think I average a savings of like $30 by buying the items on sale as opposed to just going to Wal-Mart and paying full price for them.

Of course your CAN price match, but why not give the Store that is offering the sale the business? (unless it is a far drive, I won’t ever price match it instead of going to the store, but that is me).

The point of this is to encourage you to watch the sales. I post several Coupon Matchups for all kinds of stores every week, and it takes the sales and matches them to available coupons. This saves you a  lot of time, and you just have to look at it and find what you need, clip your coupons and be on your way! You can access the FREE STORE MATCHUPS HERE.

Save an average of 20-40% more on your groceries with Sales. Then add in coupons and save another 10-50% and you will save 30-90% on average each time! If you normally spend $100 at Wal-Mart each week, I think you should be able to get similar items on sale and with coupons for about $70 (or less most of the time). That would free up lots of money each month for your family!

If you are unsure of what a good deal is, then be sure to print out our FREE PRICE POINT LIST and take it with you.
