How to create a grocery budget

Trying to figure out how to create a grocery budget can be a tricky thing! If your family eats out a lot, or you like to buy processed or boxed meals that are quick to prepare, your grocery and food expenses are going to be A LOT higher than they should be. There are a few things that you will need to consider when getting ready to make your budget:

  1. How many people are in my household that I feed regularly?
  2. How much do I spend right now each MONTH on groceries, eating out, etc.?
  3. How much can we afford to spend each month on groceries, eating out, etc.?

Figuring out the number of people that eat meals at your house should be simple. If you have guest’s over a lot, or your kids’ friends, then you may want to include them, or add an extra person or two onto your total so you can make sure that you have enough.
