My family is very blessed. We have always had enough to eat, been able to give our kids clothing and shelter, and even a few extras. I know that not all families have this, and it is very important for those who have more – to share with those who don’t have as much. There are many families that live around us where the parent(s) still work, but because of other circumstances their kids are not left with good food to eat. If we all work together, through Project Sunlight Share a Meal and Unilever, we can help the 16 million children in America that are struggling with hunger.

We all know someone that could use help every now and then. This is not only a great time to get to know our neighbors better, but also to share a meal with them. Here are 5 ways you can share a meal with a neighbor or friend:
- Host a dinner party
- Surprise them by showing up with dinner in hand
- Pack an extra lunch for you or your child to share with someone in need
- Volunteer at a local shelter
- Organize or donate to a local food drive (there are over 200 Feeding America food banks across the U.S.).
Other ways you can help are by making others aware and by not only sharing a meal, but also sharing this message. Spread the word so that we can help end child hunger and by giving just a little, the child will be getting a lot. If you can’t or don’t have the time, you can also donate. From one-time donations to memorial giving and other options, it’s never been easier to get involved. Get all of the details on this at FeedingAmerica.org. Do your part so that no child should face hunger.
We share a meal because we have children and we see how tender and sweet they are. Children are a blessing- even if they are not your own, and it is our responsibility to help them all and make sure everyone has food.
