I love my job, I really do, but sitting at a computer for several hours a day is terrible for my physical activity levels and how much I eat. Because I am sitting, I feel compelled to snack (and not on the healthy stuff), and in turn don’t feel much like doing anything else. It is a terrible cycle that I have gotten into and I wanted to make some changes. One of my main goals this year was to get back into shape, and while I have not been doing a great job, I am proud of the little improvements I have made. With four kids I do my fair share of running around, but it is not always heart-rate increasing exercise, and often we have a bag of unhealthy snacks in tow. I wanted this to change.
I recently found a great product at Walgreens called Meta Appetite Control that has really helped! It is a clinically proven fiber supplement that helps reduce my appetite for up to four hours. Not only do I snack less, but because I am snacking less, I feel like I have more energy. In turn I accomplish more throughout each day. I am back in control of my appetite and and I don’t feel famished like I did before when I tried to stop snacking. I want to share with you 5 ways to stay busy and stop snacking that anyone can do. I feel like it will help you lead a healthier lifestyle as well.
- Make a schedule
- This would consist of sitting down in the morning before you start your day, or the night before and planning out what you need to do, what you want to do, and throwing a couple of things you can do for extra time if things don’t take as long as planned. By having a list of what you need to accomplish, you will get more done and stay motivated to be busy.
- Stock your pantry and fridge with fruits and veggies
- Having the Meta Appetite Control has helped me a lot because I don’t feel hungry all the time anymore. When I do feel the urge to snack, I grab for a bag of carrots or an apple instead of a candy bar or chips. This has made a big difference in my energy levels as well.
- Exercise in small bursts, several times a day
- Go for a walk in the morning, get in some situps and pushups, etc, during lunch and then do a cardio workout at night. You could choose to get up every 30 minutes and do 10 minutes of exercise. Figure out what works for you and do it. Just stay active regularly and this will also help keep your energy levels up.
- Take on a project/set goals
- Plan a project, either indoors or out and work on it everyday. Plant a garden, build something, learn a new talent or trade. All of these things will keep you active everyday as you work on it. This is also a great way to take a break from work or your other worries in life. It is also good to set goals. It could be of a place to visit and work towards a goal weight for that trip or just getting down to a specific size and rewarding yourself with some new clothes!
- Get a friend involved
- When you have to be accountable you are a lot more likely to succeed. Have someone you can depend on to follow up with you, work out with you, encourage you and be there for you all the time and do the same for them.
I recently went on a trip to Los Angeles for Disney’s The BFG and got to go to the world premiere and walk the red carpet. It was a very fun experience and I am glad that I was doing little things so that I lost a little weight before I left. I am even more motivated to get back in shape and get my appetite under control.
