Having kids is such a blessing – but life can get busy and I admit that I don’t always spend as much time with them as I want. I have made it a goal to spend more time with them, and I have found a few ways that will help you spend more time with your kids (without arguing or fighting). Part of it is time management. Planning out my work time, house time, and family time so I can make sure that everything that needs to, gets done. Another part of making sure that I feel able to do what we want. I recently tried the new Poise Impressa bladder supports and I am really impressed with them. I am able to do so much more (like jumping, running around and even sneezing) without having to worry about *gulp* bladder leaks. As a mom of four – my bladder isn’t as strong as it used to be – so having bladder support like Poise Impressa has been really important. Want to try it? Get a Poise Impressa coupon.
My first tip on ways to spend more time with your kids is just to be silly. Forget about “should” and “need to” and just BE with them. They don’t care if your hair is fancy or you have make-up – but they do care if you are laughing or paying attention to them. They just want to be with you and be in their own element. Running around, having fun, being silly and letting go off all of the restrictions we put on ourselves. Some of the best memories I have with my kids is when we are just having fun, singing and dancing around – laughing about silly things and being together.
My second tip is to plan family outings. Sit down and plan out a list of things that you can do with your kids – like hikes, fishing, camping, your local zoo, a water park, ice/roller skating, etc. There are so many things, an if you don’t have a lot of money to spend many places offer discounted days, and getting out and enjoying nature is a great way to bond without having to spend much more than a few bucks on gas. Make these planned days a priority and don’t let other things knock them back – let your kids know that they are important and that you want to spend time with them.
Tip 3 is about getting in the kitchen. Make cookies (even if they are from a bag), make treats or dinner together. Kids love to cook and learn new things – and the kitchen is a great place to let them learn and develop important skills. If you don’t know much about cooking – then it is a great way to learn together and make some great memories over burnt cookies and spilled flour. Have fun and don’t be too serious or they won’t have fun and you want it to be fun. If something happens (like food gets burned) then giggle about it and redo it. Food can be recooked – but you won’t be able to take away the bad memories your kids will have if you get upset – so be sure to smile and just have fun.
Tip 4 is about getting out and exercising or playing sports together. Being more active as a family is something that we have set as a big goal for our family. Because I have light bladder leakage it was hard for me to participate in everything, but with Poise Impressa I am now able to do everything I wanted to do. Playing basketball has always been a love in my life, but I hated running because I was worried about LBL – now I can do more than run up and down the court, I can run around with my kids, exercise and even jump on a trampoline without any problems. Tip 5 is really about making it a priority to just be together. Even if it is around the dinner table for 30 minutes every night, at least you are connecting and talking and know that you care about each other. Meal times are a great time to reconnect and laugh and share stores. This can also go hand in hand with Tip 3 – and being in the kitchen together. Look for every opportunity and put your family first. Unplug for a while an let your kids know they are more important that the computer, phone or tablet. Play one on one with them and really get to know each other.
Take these 5 tips and integrate them into your routine. And be sure to check out Poise Impressa so that you can get your active lifestyle back and stop making excuses.
