Today is the first day of school for my kids. I want to share some back to school essentials so that you can make sure you have everything on your list that your kids might need.
Back to school is a stressful time because there is always so much going on. Something that always helps me make sure I get everything done is to make a list. A checklist is a great way to track what you need to do and also helps you remember what you have left. I also like having my kids make one because theirs will be a little different than mine.
If you are worried about your kids going back to school and aren’t sure what supplies they will need, here is a checklist that I use to make sure they have all the essentials:
- Composition notebooks
- Single subject notebooks
- Pencil pouch
- #2 pencils that can be sharpened
- Extra erasers
- Mechanical pencils with extra lead
- Colored pencils
- Planner
- Calculator
- Glue stick
- Highlighters
- Small notepad
- Pens
- Permanent marker (to write their name on things)
- Single pack tissues
- Hand sanitizer
- Period pack (for girls)
- Portable cell phone charger and cable
- Tylenol or IBProfffin
- Mini first aid kit
- Lip balm
- Lotion
- Hair ties
- Brush
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Floss
- Stainless steel water bottle (so their water stays cold all day)
- Backpack
- Lunchbox
- Thermos

This is just a basic list so it’s easy to customize based on what your child’s needs are. I don’t buy a new backpack for my kids every year. Only when needed. It has been a lot better and then we don’t have a lot of extra backpacks lying around in decent condition. I have linked some of my favorites from Amazon and Walmart above.
