This week for Camp Warner Bros. was a fun science week! We made crystal gem candy and watched Steven Universe: The Movie. It was so much fun! It is really easy to make crystal gem candy so I am going to share that with you as well as more about the movie! We decided to make amethyst candy since purple is my favorite color.
For your Crystal Gem Candy you will need:
- Glass Jar
- Pencil (or chopstick)
- paper clip
- yarn, string, or twine
- food coloring
- granulated sugar
- water
- funnel
You can get the full directions on the image below – just save it to your phone or screen shot it. You can also print it out.
The perfect movie to go along with this fun science experiment is Steven Universe: The Movie. It is available on DVD and Digital! We had a lot of fun making the crystals and watching the movie as part of our #CampWarnerBros this week. Stay tuned next week for even more fun!
About Steven Universe:
Introducing the Crystal Gems! Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl… and Steven. Steven might not know how to use the magical powers that come out of his bellybutton, but that doesn’t stop him from joining the Gems on their magical adventures!
After so many harrowing adventures, Steven and the Gems are ready to celebrate how far they’ve come with a movie musical! Little do they know they’re about to face their worst enemy yet.
You can read more about Camp Warner Bros. and see what we did last week for Superhero Week here. We also made fun tie-dye shirts to wear this summer for our “home” summer camp. Next week we are making gummy bear slime so be sure to check back!
What fun things are on your summer camp list? I would love to hear your ideas. Leave a comment below.
