With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I am having fun making Valentine crafts and doing DIY projects with my kids. Recently we made these too cute DIY Valentine Wood Blocks with glitter words on them.
I love how they turned out and they were easy to put together. These will be great to add to your own decor or to give as fun gifts to your friends with a flower or a small bag of candy (or both 🙂 ).
To make these Valentine wood blocks, you will need a 1″x4″ board cut into about 3″ pieces. so each piece will be 1″x4″x3″.
Then you will paint the blocks – I used red and pink, but you can choose any color.
After the paint dries, you can take paper and trim it to the size of the board.
Paint a layer of either liquid glue or Mod Podge and then put the paper on the wood and make sure it is secure on all the corners before moving on.
Now you get to add the letters. I used Chipboard letters so I attached them using glue dots.
Overall it probably took about 30-40 minutes and most of that was because of dry time.
Play around with the letters and words before you secure them so you can make sure you have them placed before the glue touches the paper. It will tear it if you try and move a letter after they have been secured.
We got the board for this at Lowes (Home Depot is also great). Any home improvement store should have an 8-foot board for about $6-$8. Let’s go on the high side and say it was $8, that means each of these blocks is about $0.27 each plus the other supplies to make them.
You will be able to get about 30 blocks (maybe 31) from each 8-foot board if you cut them at about 3 inches each.
