Family Reunions can be so much fun! We just got back from my husbands family reunion (this last week, why I wasn’t around) and it was great. It’s fun to see everyone and catch up and also to let our kids spend time playing since they don’t get to see each other very much. We were able to do so much over the three days we were together. Boating, Riding, Hiking, Museums, Swimming, Crafts, Great Food and more. It was so nice. The weather was actually pretty good too. We only got rained on a little. With all of the fun, there were some things I wish I would have remembered or been able to change. But hey, it makes for a funny story…
Saturday night, my youngest (11 months old) got the flu….ahem….and since we were sleeping in the back of our truck (with a camper shell on it) just on cots, it got pretty interesting. We finally got her to sleep at about 1 am and I woke up at 2:30 am with throw-up all over me…ha ha ha …scared me to death. Got it all cleaned up (bless my husband for helping) and got back to sleep only for her to do it about an hour later. After about 5 times of this we found a towel and started putting that under her as we leaned her forward. I felt so bad. It was far worse to watch her go through that, than having to deal with cleaning it up. It really wasn’t too bad because she is so small. The next morning my oldest daughter ended up being sick so that was fun. Fortunately she is old enough to know how to handle it so that wasn’t to bad as far as clean up. I felt bad not being able to do anything for her. Hopefully my other kids or hubby won’t get it, and I don’t want it for sure. lol.
My prayers are with my mother and father in law, since he got sick and had to go to the hospital Saturday afternoon. He is doing ok, but still it really makes you think about what is important in life and reevaluate your priorities. I am truly thankful for my family.
Here are some things that (even after almost 10 years of doing this with my little family, I am still learning) you should remember to pack for your family reunions or camping trips:
Extra Clothes (I thought I had enough…clearly I was wrong)
Towels
Sunscreen, Bug Spray and First Aid Kit
Jackets/Sweaters AND Coats
Water Bottles
Tennis Shoes
Long pants and long sleeved shirts (less scrapes and less dirty)
Wet Wipes/baby wipes
Flashlights/batteries
It was a great trip and we really enjoyed all of it. It’s always fun to see everyone and get together.
There are a 100 things that have to be packed, these are just some extras that I always seem to forget something of. If you have anything to add, please leave a comment.
