I was able to attend a screening in order to write this Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Parents Guide. All opinions are my own.
First of all, I have to say that this was one of the best screenings I have ever been to before – and I have been to a lot. We were treated with amazing swag (hats, wands, posters, plus the chance to win other cool prizes), and to top it all off, we were 1 of 6 theaters in the world that were able to participate in a live stream interview with part of the talent from the movie (thanks to IMAX magic). My whole family had an amazing time.
The movie Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore picks up right where the last one ends. Eddie Redmayne (who plays Newt Scamander) blew me away. I love his dedication to his role and he pulls you in with humor, emotion, and feeling in everything he does. The same is said for Jude Law (who plays Albus Dumbledore). And these two together are fantastic! Other amazing talent that brought so much to the show were: Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone), Mads Mikkelsen (Gellert Grindelwald), Callum Turner (Theseus Scamander), Richard Coyle (Aderforth), Jessica Williams (Eulalie “Lally” Hicks), and Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein).
Compared to what you are used to, the movie might be a little slow movie – and there isn’t as much action since it has a lot of Dumbledore’s backstory. But I felt like it was all necessary and I understand some of the characters from the Harry Potter books so much better now. I loved getting to know all of them better.
Don’t expect Tina Goldstein (played by Katherin Waterston) in the movie much. I hope they bring her back more in the fourth one. I loved the new and returning characters and the roles they played in this movie. This is one I highly recommend seeing in theaters. Watching it on the IMAX was an incredible experience!
If you haven’t watched it yet, be sure to check out the Fantastic Beasts Global Press Conference with interviews with the cast and director. It is so much fun!

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Parents Guide
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is rated PG-13 for some fantasy action/violence and runs for 2 hours and 22 minutes.
There are no end credit scenes for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
Sex & Nudity – None
Violence & Gore – Several different scenes of magical fights with wands. Characters getting knocked down, trapped in walls, stunned. Nothing really gory or graphic except an animal’s throat getting slit (shows some blood but not the wound as a hand is covering it).
Profanity – A use or two of hell. The use of “stupid sod” a couple of times.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – Some liquids that could be alcohol are shown.
Frightening & Intense Scenes – Shows an animal giving birth (nothing graphic) and then the egg hatching (like a bubble of water bursting). Different animals/creatures getting killed or dying. A large scorpion-like creature attacks some of the characters in an intense chase scene. Little scorpion-like creatures in the dark. Characters falling off of cliffs. A half-eaten man covered in slime is spat out by a creature (a leg/shoe is shown – not much else is discernible).
Overall I would say that the movie is probably good for 8 and older. I would make sure you watch the other two movies first so everyone is familiar with the storyline and characters or there will be a lot of questions asked.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore comes out in theaters on April 8, 2022
