I have had the opportunity to recently try out the awesome Baby Tone DVD and read the Fit Moms for Life book by Dustin Maher!
The DVD’s are great. They have 8 different workouts on two DVD’s and each workout is geared towards something different. And they really work! The workouts are designed for you to “workout” with your baby! These are for new moms who want to get back into shape (or just get into shape) after having a baby. You hold your baby or have her/him in a carrier during the workout and this helps you build up you muscles and strength and endurance.
The first time I tried it, I did the baby weight lower body blast workout, and OH MY HECK! it kicked my butt! I couldn’t believe how “out of shape” I was…especially at how weak my muscles were. I don’t “feel” weak, but this definitely showed me how much I had to improve on! I was SO sore and I couldn’t believe that the 15-20 minute workout I did could make such a difference. The workouts are great and they WORK! I love that I can see results so quickly because the workouts get right to the point.
Another thing I really loved about these workouts is that I am able to include my 3 month old baby. She loves it and smiles and coos most of the workout. It is a great bonding experience for us, instead of her being in her crib playing or sleeping or whatever, while I do the workout, I am able to hold her and be with her for a fun “playtime”. My two year old loves to watch it too, not just because of the baby on the TV (with the mom working out on the DVD) but because he thinks it’s “entertaining” I guess to see me exercising with the baby. This is my favorite part about these workouts, it that I get to have that time with my baby at the same time!
I was also given Dustin’s new book “Fit Mom’s for Life – How to Have Endless Energy to Outplay Your Kids”. This book is great! It is PACKED full of important information that will really change how you look at everything fitness and health. You will be more aware of what you eat, and your health, it even has a q&a and blank documents (like a three day food journal and measurements chart) that you can copy and use. It is full of awesome effective exercises that you can do with tips to make the workout more effective.
It gives you helpful information about things like eating out, how to keep your appetite under control and how to shop for groceries…(you would be surprised what you will learn here).
One thing that I really love about this book, even thought the whole book is great, is that it talks about how to make the changes not only in yourself, but how to do it as a family. That is really important to me, because I was everyone in my house to be healthy and look good.
Overall I (and my baby) really enjoy the workouts and they are just the right amount of time for me. They are effective and I love that I get to choose the workout so I get what I need (like lower body, or upper body, etc). By eating better and following the guidelines in the book, I have found that I have been able to not only improve my eating habits, but I have been able to make “lifestyle” changes that are very beneficial to everyone in my house. This is a great system that really works and it will give you the results that you are looking for! Its something every new mom should have!
