Halloween is such a fun time of year. Decorating with pumpkins is always great – but Halloween pumpkin decorations are one of my favorite things. There are so many different things you can do with them. Below I have shared several examples of things you can do from making planters out of them to etching. Depending on what you are making, you may even want to get fake pumpkins and carve them out so they will last year after year!
Some of these are easier crafts you can do with your kids, and others are just ideas. I hope you find some inspiration here and have so much fun putting your Halloween pumpkin decorations together.
Halloween Pumpkin Decorations
- Try hollowing out a small to medium-sized pumpkin and putting long-lasting flowers/greenery or succulents inside. Use hot glue and moss to help design it. After a few weeks, pull the succulents out and replant them in a pot.
- Free design your own pumpkin with felt and hand sew it together. Be sure to attach all the eyes, nose, mouth, stem, etc before you sew them together.
- Use some old crates (or make your own) and stack them up (and secure them) and fill it with pumpkins of all shapes, sizes, and colors. For an extra touch, string lights around them for a fun “light show”.
- Make a rustic centerpiece with a bread bowl, pumpkins, and pinecones. Easy to put together and looks great clear through November!
- Cut out some small bats and glue them onto different pumpkins and set them up. This also works great with fake pumpkins.
- Make a fun front yard space with haybales, corn stalks, and pumpkins. Be sure to add lights and accents for a fun place for neighbors to enjoy (and even take pictures).
- Lightly carve a design into the skin of the pumpkin and color it in. You can add cut-out bats and other elements as well as fake leaves. Gourds are a cute accent.
- Take small pumpkins and paint them whatever color matches your tablescape. Then you can make small tags to go on them as place settings for dinner! (these are fun to use all fall from Halloween to Thanksgiving!)
With so many fun ways to decorate, this is just a touch to get you started. I also love using candlesticks and putting pumpkins on them as well as candles. You can even use a skeleton! I would love to know your favorite way to decorate with pumpkins for Halloween!
