Life is a funny thing. Very little is certain, and we are all very different. One thing I always try and teach my kids, and practice myself, is that you only get what you give. If you want big things, you have to give (work hard, patience and determination). You may or may not be able to answer all of these questions without really thinking about it, but I am willing to bet that there are at least a few that will make you stop and think.
Why should you answer these life-changing questions?
The answer is simple…do you want to change your life? Every New Year is a chance to sit down and reflect on your life. Of course, I like to do this almost daily and write down goals and things that I have done and would like to do differently. But, with the start of the New Year, it can always be beneficial to sit down and really reflect on your life and where you are at and set new goals and resolutions for yourself.
Answering these life-changing questions periodically can literally change your life. You have to pay attention to what you write down and work really hard at changing those answers to what you want them to be. Nothing good comes easy and the price isn’t free (it costs time and energy), but the end results are amazing and so worth it! What is stopping you from taking the leap and answering these life-changing questions?
Just remember you, my friend, are amazing. You have so much potential and I know you already do a lot of good in the world. Make goals to improve on that and become an even better version of yourself.
Here are 15 life-changing questions to ask yourself and reflect on:
- What makes me happy?
- What are my talents?
- How can I help others feel happy?
- What is the purpose of my life?
- How do people see me differently than I see myself?
- What is something that I would like to learn more about?
- What qualities would I like to have?
- Am I doing things I know I shouldn’t be doing?
- What makes me laugh?
- What do I love most?
- What is stopping me from being my best?
- Where do I want to be next year? in 5 years?
- What is most important to me?
- How can I step out of my comfort zone?
- What steps can I take to reach my dream(s)?
What do you do now?
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Get a nice journal (a couple of our favorites here and here), take the questions one at a time and really think hard about your answers and be honest with yourself. Write down everything you think of – good and bad – and then take time to put some order to it. The only way to learn about yourself and to really grow as a person is to be honest and be open to change.
Just remember that you hold the keys to changing your future. If you are not happy with your life right now, take steps to improve it. Make it better by making yourself better. When you are happy with who you are, then you will be happy with life and love.
