My kids like to be busy, so I try to come up with fun new things for them to do. I got a fun idea to make a lion out of a paper plate and use pipe cleaner for the mane and it turned out pretty cute. It was easy for them to do on their own and they liked the color and face making part more than anything else. This lion craft for kids doesn’t take much planning and they had a lot of fun making it.
Lion Craft for Kids
This Lion Craft for Kids is easy to make, just take a paper plate and have them color front and back and draw the face on.
Then you will cut the plate into the inner ring, all the way around as far apart as you want each piece of “mane”. You will have to make two close cuts, then make a space, then two close cuts, then make a space, and this will allow you a smaller piece to wrap the pipe cleaner around (as you can see above).
It is a great rainy day craft or something fun for them to do if you ware planning a trip to the Zoo. It would even be fun to cut the eyes, nose, and mouth out and tie some string to each side to make a Lion Mask with it. Fun for dress up or for even trick or treating.
If they want to make the body, just attach another paper plate to the bottom of the “head” and then cut out arms, legs, and a tail and attach them with a glue stick. There are really just so many different ways to have fun with this. If you try it out I would love to hear about your experience and what your kids thought.
