The Safety 1st VersaScan Talking Thermometer is by far the best thermometer I have ever had. I will admit, when it came to thermometers, I was pretty cheap (like the $5 ones they have to hold under their tongue, or in their armpit). They are NOT kid friendly, nor are they very accurate. Finally when we had our third kid we broke down and actually spent like $18 on one that we could put in the ear and it would give us a read out…AFTER 5-7 SECONDS! It didn’t seem like that long when you are standing there in the store buying it, but when you get it home and test it out on a kid that doesn’t want to hold still anyways, and then to add the fact that they are not feeling well and don’t want to be poked and prodded, well, 5-7 seconds is like a lifetime! LOL.
The Safety First VersaScan Talking Thermometer Reads Ear, Food, and Bath Temps
There are so many features of this Thermometer that I love, that it would be impossible for me to sit here and tell you just one thing. The key features are:
Reads Ear Temperature
Reads Food Temperature
Reads Bath Temperature
Fever Light Button that lights up RED for fever
It has a 1 second reading
Talking Readout Option
30 memory recall (if you have to take the temp over and over and need to know what it was previously, this is great)
There is a temperature chart attached to the back of the thermometer
I have been using this thermometer for about 3 weeks now and there is not one thing that I don’t like about it! It has worked taking readings in my 9 month old (very quickly and accurate by the way) as well as on my hubby. I love that it lights up when there is a fever, so I don’t have to stress about what temperature it needs to be at, and this helps make things quicker as well. The readout is cool, and its great if you are alone and have a grumpy baby or toddler you are trying to handle. I also love that I can recall the temps to compare readings.
Here is a short video that shows you how easy it is to take the temp, what it looks like on the screen and also how it sounds when it talks.
The thermometer works great as a water temp reader. It is nice especially for when I am giving a bath to my 9 month old, because I know that my hands (or even wrists) don’t always reflect what would be comfortable for a baby or toddler. Its just good to know.
I actually have a food thermometer, but this one works pretty good too. I tried it out just to see, but I like to keep it just for ears and baths. Overall I LOVED this thermometer and I have been telling everyone I know about it! If you are looking for a new thermometer, this is the one you should get!

I love how quickly it takes the reading. Our 15 month old does NOT like to be touched on his ears, mostly because he has repeated ear infections and always seems to be running a fever. He refuses to let us use our “old” ear thermometer so we bought a forehead scanning one…which isn’t accurate. Then we bought one to use behind the ear, but it always seems to give higher readings, then you take it again and it’s lower…so again…not accurate. I hope I win this one because I almost bought it in the store the last time I bought a thermometer and didn’t…I am kicking myself now.
