On my trip to LA for the #CaptainAmericaEvent, we were able to spend some time on the set of ABC’s The Catch. THE CATCH is on Thursdays at 10 pm. If you haven’t seen it yet, The Catch features “Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos) is LA’s top private investigator — and the one woman you don’t want to mess with. But when her fiancé (Peter Krause) cons her out of millions and disappears, Alice goes on a private mission for payback. No matter where it leads or the secrets she must keep along the way, Alice will stop at nothing to catch her man. From the producers of “Scandal,” “Greys Anatomy” and “How to Get Away with Murder,” “The Catch” is a one-hour drama starring Mireille Enos, Peter Krause, Alimi Ballard, Jay Hayden, Jacky Ido, Rose Rollins, Elvy Yost and Sonya Walger. The Catch is executive-produced by Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Allan Heinberg and Julie Anne Robinson.”
While there were were able to meet Rose Rollins (who plays Valerie Anderson) and Peggy Schnitzer (costume designer for the show). This was so much fun. We were behind the scenes in the wardrobe department and got to see costumes and props that the characters wear on the show, as well we learn about the process and more!
While we were in the wardrobe department we got to talk with Peggy Schnitzer who is the costume designer for the show, as well as Carlos Zapeda (tailor), Leo Castro (costume supervisor) and Anita Cabada (Peggy’s assistant costume designer). They were all very nice and knew so much about the show and what goes on behind the scenes. They have these amazing binders that they keep pictures and information in for every costume and character, from the leads clear down to the extras.
Peggy told us “I try and pair off pieces [with] little bits of color that match people. So it all ties in together. I don’t use a lot of prints except maybe on Elvy who plays Sophie and once in a while on Alice. I pretty much stick to solid colors, because I think it works best for this. There’s a lot going on and they can be distracting sometimes.” So that gives you some insight on to why she chooses the colors and styles that she does. We want to know how she came up with the style or look for each character. All of the cast of The Catch look amazing and I personally love their style. Peggy shared “I wanted her (Alice Vaughn played by Mireille Enos) to be sleek, she has an amazing body. Strong but feminine. I’m very lucky because in a lot of shows they don’t let you use a lot of black clothes. And here they do because their office, their business AVI is all glass and white. So it’s great to have darker shapes and people going through so you can see them, we can’t do like a lot of lights and beige’s. You know, we do the occasional white dress but then it depends on what everyone else is wearing. But usually I try and do it around what Mireille and Rose are wearing, everyone else around them. Because it’s usually focusing on them in that environment.” It is really interesting to learn about things like this and see how much thought goes into it. Peggy does an amazing job! I can’t wait to see more of her costumes in future episodes.
After we looked around the wardrobe department for a while, we were able to head over to the set for the movie! We saw the house and we saw the office space. They were both so beautiful and it was really cool to be in the space.
We were able to see the painting by Maria Kreyn. The props and aspects of the house make you feel like you could move right in!
It was a lot of fun getting to know Peggy and Valerie better. They both add so much to this show and seeing the set was so perfect! If you haven’t seen the show yet you can watch the full episodes on http://abc.go.com/shows/the-catch or On Demand.
