Thanksgiving can be crazy and busy for the adults who live in the kitchen for like 24-hours lol, but for my kids, it is still magical and fun. I love that and so I do everything I can to keep it that way as long as possible. This year, we did something really fun and got crafts for the kids to make that will be decorations for the table. These Thanksgiving Table Settings and decor are the perfect way to get the kids involved before Thanksgiving Day and keep them excited through mealtime. Especially the printable Thanksgiving activity sheets we made. These are fun for all ages!
We got several kits DIY craft kids from Oriental Trading and I am very pleased with all of them. The Mayflower Boat Place card holders are really fun to make, and even my 8-year-old was able to do it with minimal help from me. You can sew the top together or leave the top open to put treats in.
The Turkey Napkin Rings, as well as the Turkey Coasters, are also very fun to make and fairly easy to put together. Both are pretty straightforward and let the kids have some creative freedom as far as what colors to put where.
We tried to make our table look “fancy” while still being kid-friendly. One thing that really helped that in addition to the decor, was having finger foods. I know my kids love to snack before mealtimes, not that I allow it very often, but Thanksgiving dinner takes a long time to prepare. Having fun treats on the table helps to minimize the whining. Even cut up fruits and veggies and other healthy snacks are the perfect appetizers.
Also, feel free to get creative. Depending on what style you want to do, you can usually make decorations very easily that will add a lot of attitude to the decor. We are also sharing fun printable activity sheets you can print out and put on each place setting to keep the kids engaged while they wait for the food to be served. I put these out with wood “twig” pencils. It really looked amazing and the kids loved it too!
I also got the Thanksgiving Story bracelets to add to each plate so they would have a fun craft to do in addition to the Thanksgiving printable activity sheets. These are very cute and pretty easy. A fun “souvenir” for the kids.
I got the plate chargers (large white plates under our paper plates) at Hobby Lobby for just a couple of bucks apiece. I also got the disposable placemats there. I made the wood stand (see the tutorial here) and I got the white pumpkin from Oriental Trading as well.
I hope this helps you get your Thanksgiving table ready for your family and the Thanksgiving Activity Sheets printables help your kids have as fun of a time as mine have!
