My oldest daughter just got engaged and so I have been thinking about a lot of things like traditions, things I want her to remember and take with her and hopefully integrate into her family someday. With Thanksgiving so close, that is what I have been thinking about the most, so I wanted to share a list of Thanksgiving Traditions – ones we have and others that I found and really love. It’s never too late to start integrating traditions into your family. If you already have some great Thanksgiving Traditions, I would love to know what they are. Please leave a comment below sharing.
The great thing about Thanksgiving traditions is that they are very personal and culturally based. This gives them deep meaning and makes them rich and varied. It adds a uniqueness to your family and what you do.
Thanksgiving Traditions
- Having a special breakfast (or dessert for breakfast like we do)
- Creating place cards and decorations for the table
- Making handprint or footprint crafts (to help preserve the size of your kids each year and how they are growing)
- Having a Thanksgiving meal together
- Watching football
- Watching the parade
- Making a “grateful” tree or jar
- Volunteering, giving service, or helping out with food to those in need
- Thanksgiving morning “run” marathon or 5K
- Friendsgiving
- Decorating for Christmas (at the end of the day)
- Hot cocoa bar and leftovers and have a movie night
I bet that you are already doing several of these. Several of them are pretty “normal” or well-known. Others might not be.
