I was able to attend a screening in order to write this The Bad Guys Parents Guide. All opinions are my own.
As I am unfamiliar with the books, I didn’t know what to expect or have anything to compare the movie to in that way. We have since placed a hold at the library so we can start reading them – that is how much we loved the movie. The Bad Guys parents guide doesn’t have much in it because it is one of the cleanest movies I have seen in a long time. All the character’s voices are amazing. I felt like they matched them to what I would have imagined, after reading the books.
The movie is entertaining and funny enough to keep adults interested and laughing, but a “simple” enough storyline that even small kids could follow along. I truly love The Bad Guys movie and I think they did an amazing job! I am really hoping they have more movies follow this one because I am wanting to see more of these characters.

The Bad Guys Parents Guide
The Bad Guys is rated PG for action and rude humor and runs for 1 hour and 40 minutes.
There is one mid-credit scene for The Bad Guys. (cartoonish credits start to roll, and then it cuts to one more scene).
Sex & Nudity – Not sure if this qualifies here, but there is a moon rock and one of the characters keeps calling it a butt. A character pretends they are in labor. A character is shown in boxer shorts (after his pants get ripped off).
Violence & Gore – Characters fighting each other (Ninja style) – it is more comical than anything. Get-a-way scenes, car chases, arrests.
Profanity – 1 use of OMG at the end
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – Cocktails and other drinks are shown occasionally
Frightening & Intense Scenes – There are guinea pigs that are mind controlled with bright blue eyes that chase some of the characters.
Overall I would say any age for this. It is packed with humor – clean humor and has no language and only 1 profanity!
The Bad Guys comes out in theaters on April 22, 2022
About The Bad Guys:
Nobody has ever failed so hard at trying to be good as The Bad Guys.
In the new action comedy from DreamWorks Animation, based on the New York Times best-selling book series, a crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws is about to attempt their most challenging con yet—becoming model citizens.
Never have there been five friends as infamous as The Bad Guys—dashing pickpocket Mr. Wolf (Academy Award® winner Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), seen-it-all safecracker Mr. Snake (Marc Maron, GLOW), chill master-of-disguise Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson, Hot Tub Time Machine franchise), short-fused “muscle” Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos, In the Heights) and sharp-tongued expert hacker Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina, Crazy Rich Asians), aka “Webs.”
But when, after years of countless heists and being the world’s most-wanted villains, the gang is finally caught, Mr. Wolf brokers a deal (that he has no intention of keeping) to save them all from prison: The Bad Guys will go good.
Under the tutelage of their mentor Professor Marmalade (Richard Ayoade, Paddington 2), an arrogant (but adorable!) guinea pig, The Bad Guys set out to fool the world that they’ve been transformed. Along the way, though, Mr. Wolf begins to suspect that doing good for real may give him what he’s always secretly longed for: acceptance. So when a new villain threatens the city, can Mr. Wolf persuade the rest of the gang to become … The Good Guys?
The film co-stars Zazie Beetz (Joker), Lilly Singh (Bad Moms), and Emmy winner Alex Borstein (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).
Based on the blockbuster Scholastic book series by Aaron Blabey, The Bad Guys is directed by Pierre Perifel (animator, of the Kung Fu Panda films), making his feature directing debut. The film is produced by Damon Ross (development executive Trolls, The Boss Baby, co-producer Nacho Libre) and Rebecca Huntley (associate producer, The Boss Baby). The executive producers are Aaron Blabey, Etan Cohen, and Patrick Hughes.
