I love cooking and baking. I wanted a new cookbook so when I heard about The Keepsake Kitchen Diary by Lily & Val I couldn’t wait to try it. They sent me a couple of them to review and I fell in love immediately. All opinions here are 100% my own. Since I can remember I have enjoyed finding recipes and writing them down or making them all my own and keeping a collection on 3×5 cards in a box. Then when I got married I made my own collection (transferring many from the 3×5 cards) into a half size 3-ring binder. For the last 12 years I have been doing this and the book and pages were starting to show their age. When I found out about The Keepsake Kitchen Diary by Lily & Val I couldn’t contain my excitement. The book itself is well made and I love how it is laid out and indexed, but it is a great keepsake that I will be able to pass down to my kids in the future. I have two books, and I am working with each of my oldest girls to fill the new cook books with their favorite recipes so they will have something fun to take with them when they get married. Already full of their favorites, and all of the memories that goes with them.
My kids love cookies, and so we got the cookbook out a few days ago and made one of my favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipes. Of course they do a lot of the work in getting everything in the bowl and helping with the mixing, rolling and eating ;). I am there to make sure the measurements are accurate and that they don’t eat to much of the cookie dough before it’s cooked 🙂
About The Keepsake Kitchen Diary by Lily & Val:
- With room for approximately 200 recipes, the diary is divided into 6 sections: starters, soups/salads, main courses, side dishes, desserts and miscellaneous.
Pockets are included on the inside front & back covers for storing photos and special tokens. - An exclusive hand-drawn illustration accompanies each section along with helpful cooking references and guides. Each diary also contains 12 tear-out recipe cards to share.
- The Kitchen Diary is as functional as it is lovely with tough gold wire-o binding and coated covers for protection from light spills. Our no-bleed paper ensures ink will not show through.
- Lily & Val is a company built on the idea of cherishing the simple things in everyday living. How often these simple things become the big things when we reminisce about the past! Whether you love to cook or just dabble in the kitchen, we hope this diary allows you to savor each moment, memory, and bite just a little bit more.
Overall I am really happy with the cookbook and love how sturdy it is and the layout. It is a great book that is well worth the money and I know that it will last for many many years to come. I can’t wait to make some of my favorite recipes out of it with my grand kids!

This is such a great idea! It is so important to write things down! There are so many things we never learned because my grandma knew how to, but never wrote it all down before she passed. This is such a great way to share with future generations.
I feel the same way – although my Grandma did write down some of her favorites, I would have loved to have more and also details about when they made it and why. It is a great keepsake as well as cookbook.
I have a friend that literally likes to cook to destress. I think she would love something like this but I have to give it to her for her birthday.
This would make a great gift! The book is so beautiful and made very well. Anyone who loves to cook / bake would be thrilled! 🙂
I love this. It’s so fun getting the kids involved in the kitchen isn’t it? I bake/cook with my kids as much as possible.
I love baking and cooking with my kids. It is fun to see them make things on their own. It is also helpful when I need a break and they step in and help me with a meal 🙂
