I was able to watch an early screening in order to bring you this THE LOST CITY Parents Guide. All opinions are my own.
I have been looking forward to watching The Lost City for a long time! The cast is great and the storyline looked entertaining and comical. I am an avid reader so this also caught my attention. Combine Channing Tatum with Sandra Bullock and Danial Radcliff, you already hope that it will be good. Then you see Brad Pitt and see him in the trailer and it gets you even more excited. Oscar Nuñez, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Raymond Lee are also part of this great cast!
The movie centers around Loretta (a romance author) so there is a lot of dialogue with innuendos, or talking about “how she would write the scene”. This movie is definitely for an older audience. There is a lot of humor, but it also has a great serious side as well as a good intriguing storyline. Be sure to stay until the main credits start rolling. You won’t want to miss the mid-credit scene. There is nothing after that.
This is a great date night movie for you are your partner! A perfect balance so it’s not “too girly” or “too much action”. It will be enjoyed by all! Sandra and Channing step into their roles perfectly and take you along on this amazing adventure. Daniel also does a fantastic job and I enjoyed watching him as the bad guy. As for Brad…well you will have to wait and see for yourself! 😉

THE LOST CITY Parents Guide
THE LOST CITY is rated PG-13 Rated PG-13 for violence and some bloody images, suggestive material, partial nudity, and language
THE LOST CITY runs for 1 hour and 52 minutes.
There is one mid-credit The Lost City end credit scenes.
Sex & Nudity – Uses of words like dick, coital, sex, slut, engorged sacks, and anus. There are a lot of sexual innuendos. It shows a naked bum for a minute or two over six different shots. Shows one of the main characters shirtless several times. A couple of the outfit some of the characters wear show a lot of cleavage.
Violence & Gore – It shows hand to hand combat, people shooting at each other, a man shot and blood spraying all over another character (and talk about tasting brains) but the character that was shot isn’t shown, characters trapped, motorcycle crashes, fire, bombs, and a man falling off a cliff.
Profanity – 4+ uses of ass, 16+ uses of God (including OMG), 3+ uses of Jesus Christ,1+ uses of shit. There was a lot of oh God, OMG, and God. There wasn’t much other language. No F words.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – Drinking is seen throughout but not as a prominent part of the movie. There are some characters smoking cigars.
Frightening & Intense Scenes – The character getting shot is pretty intense. A car crashes (no persons inside). Characters getting trapped. I didn’t feel like there was really anything overly intense or frightening – anything that could have been was made into a humorous situation.
Overall I would say 13 older for this one because of the inuendos and partial nudity. There is also some violence. I give the movie a 4/5. Lost a point because of the extended bum scene, too many uses of God, and too many innuendos.
THE LOST CITY comes out in theaters on March 25, 2022
About The Lost City:
Brilliant, but reclusive author Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) has spent her career writing about exotic places in her popular romance-adventure novels featuring handsome cover model Alan (Channing Tatum), who has dedicated his life to embodying the hero character, “Dash.” While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) who hopes that she can lead him to the ancient lost city’s treasure from her latest story.
Wanting to prove that he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her. Thrust into an epic jungle adventure, the unlikely pair will need to work together to survive the elements and find the ancient treasure before it’s lost forever.
