We received a copy of The Upside for review. All opinions are my own.
I love watching new movies. Even remakes of old movies. I never saw The Intouchables, but was drawn to the story line. When The Upside came out I wanted to see it because of the great friendship, humor and hope that the story shares.
You will fall in love with the on-screen chemistry that Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston have. Nicole Kidman also brings a lot to the mix. Kevin Hart is funny, but brings with him his usually “style”.
I would say that this is for older kids (like teens) and adults. There are different levels of profanity heard as well as some crude words. There is also a scene with drug use and a love scene.
Overall the movie is great! I love the comedy, drama, and good feeling from seeing their friendship develop. Get your copy now on digital or tomorrow on Blu-ray and DVD!
Kevin Hart (Night School, Ride Along) and Bryan Cranston (Trumbo, “Breaking Bad”) pair up to tell the inspirational true story of a genuine and unique friendship in the fun and moving comedy The Upside.
From STXfilms, Lantern Entertainment and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. From acclaimed director Neil Burger (Divergent, Limitless), the film follows a discouraged out-of-work ex-con and a wealthy quadriplegic who unexpectedly come together and help each other bring back their zest for life.
A “funny and warmhearted buddy comedy” (Pete Hammond, Deadline) grounded in real emotion, The Upside earned an “A” CinemaScore from moviegoers and features a stellar supporting cast including Nicole Kidman (Aquaman, “Big Little Lies”), Golshifteh Farahani (Paterson, Boutique), Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife,” “ER”), Aja Naomi King (The Birth of a Nation, “How to Get Away with Murder”), and Tate Donovan (Argo, “Damages”).
