This month is National Children’s Dental Health Month! Children’s dental health is so important. I have four children, and so I know what a struggle it can be to get them to brush and floss, and to take care of their teeth the correct way, but it is so worth it. I want to share some great Oral Health Care Tips for Children from Trident and the The Partnership for Healthy Mouths.
Have your children brush their teeth TWO TIMES A DAY for at least 2 MINUTES. (2 MIN 2X). If you have toddlers, then you may or may not know that you can use flouride toothpaste if they are 2 or older.
From the age of 1, you and your children should visit the Dentist regularly.
Make sure that your kids are flossing. They need to clean between their teeth at least once a day to remove plaque and food where a brush can’t reach. Children as young as 2 should be flossing if their teeth are touching.
Make sure their teeth are getting Flouride. This will come through most water and some food sources, and also in their toothpaste.
Chewing Sugar-Free gum like Trident can help keep their teeth cleaner after eating and between brushing. chewing Trident sugar-free gum after eating stimulates saliva flow, which helps reduce the risk of cavities by reducing plaque acids, removing debris and strengthening teeth.
You can learn more about oral health tips and Smiles Across America here. Learn more about Trident on the Trident Facebook page.
