Do you like going grocery shopping? I did too until I found out how hard it is with four kids in tow. Some trips are better than others, and when my husband is with me we “divide and conquer”, but when it is just me with all four of my kids, I feel like I should get a gold medal at the end for making it through the shopping trip without wrapping them all in toilet paper like mummies 🙂 When it is just one or two, we do ok but get all four together and it is like putting feral cats with new puppies. One is always extending its claws and the other is terribly annoying as much as possible. Now, this isn’t all of the time, once in a while my kids will surprise me and we will have a great shopping experience, but those are far and few between.
Does this look familiar?
For this reason, I started looking for alternatives – like shopping when the kids are in school, waiting for their dad to get off work, having the oldest babysit for a while – and these work ok – but I am still spending precious time at the grocery store at peak hours and it takes twice as long, while I have a whole list of other things I need to get done. None of these options seemed to be the answer, and then I found it – ONLINE Grocery shopping! I was so excited that I didn’t hesitate to try it. We are doing home lunch this year, and so that means I am shopping more often than normal to make sure my kids have healthy snacks, food, and drinks.
I don’t think you realize how excited I was when I found out that I can get all of those snacks, etc for their lunches, all of the groceries we need for the week and even some household items. Let me lay this out better for you. It took me at least 15-20 minutes to make the list, a minimum of 90 minutes to go shopping, and the stress of having to do this with at least one of my kids. When I am shopping online, I am able to log in and add items to my cart as I remember them throughout the week. I placed my order on the morning of the day I want to pick up (or you can select a day/time that works for you) and then I show up at the store and they bring the groceries out to the car and load them for me. Boom! I was done with my grocery shopping at the store in less than 10 minutes and didn’t forget anything because I had already added things as I went – and I didn’t get things I didn’t need by browsing the aisles at the store.
This is a huge game changer for us. As a working mom of four, time is a commodity, and now I just added a couple extra hours (plus) back into my busy routine. You guys, I even had a chance to read my book for 10 minutes while we were at the grocery pickup! That never happens. My kids were all in the car – my baby was sleeping, and the other three were drawing, reading or playing on their phones. I didn’t have to bother them to wake up or stop what they were doing and the whole experience was peaceful and relaxing. How many parents can say grocery shopping with their kids was peaceful? And to top it all off, the service is FREE and you can get $10 off your first order (of $50+) with the promo code MOMHACKS. Visit walmart.com/grocery online or through the Walmart Grocery mobile app. See where the Walmart Grocery Free Same-Day Pickup Locations are close to you.
Walmart always guarantees the quality of the food being picked up or purchased in-store through its Freshness Guarantee for meat, produce and bakery items. If customers aren’t satisfied with an item, you can take it back to the store – or call the customer service number in your email receipt and they will help resolve any issues. Walmart grocery pickup is time-saving and will help you get more done in less time!
All four of my kids are in school (my baby is only in for 2.5 hours a day) this year. As always, I want to make sure that they have a successful and fun school year. Having a good lunch is part of that, but there are also other things that will take their experience from good to spectacular. I found the Family Guide to the Best School Year Ever and we have really enjoyed it! Get your free copy of it.

I haven’t tried it yet from Walmart, but I have from Smiths. It is wonderful to not have to get out and drag my kiddos inside with me.

Walmart does this now, say what!! I’m totally out of the loop because I live in Europe for the time being. Great deal for you, so easy 🙂

I can see where this is such a blessing for you. I’ve tried the grocery pick-up from King Soopers and it’s great.

I need to use this service ASAP! Shopping with just 2 kids is complete craziness for me so having this option would be amazing!

I’ve been hearing about this and I am excited, and we do shop often at Walmart, so I will give it another try. It didn’t work so well with my back to school supplies shopping.
Glad it’s helpful to you!

This is such a cool idea! We love shopping at Walmart and would use this service as an alternative when the weather gets colder.

I need to remember to take advantage of this. My kids hate when I drag them into walmart.

I had no idea that Walmart has grocery pick up! Wow, I am going to use this today – I need to go right by there on a trip in WA state, so thank you for bringing this to our attention (and helping us save money)!

I am intrigued by this! I have been hearing a lot about it and our local walmart is now doing this also. We just got a post card in the mail to try it out with a $10 off our first purchase coupon. I didn’t event think about making the list all week and saving it. I honestly just thought you had to make it at the time you were ready to get it. I like the idea of saving a grocery list on line and useing it when I’m ready! Def gonna be checking into this more as I HATE shopping in brick n mortar stores lol

As a mother of four myself I agree that if there’s a way to get my shopping done without having to take all the kids in then I will do it. Used to go in the middle of the night but online shopping is so much easier.

Grocery pick up has saved my sanity the past few months with a brand new baby. Unfortunately, I had an awful experience the first and only time I tried Walmart’s grocery pick up, so we use a different grocery store for our pick up now. I may give Walmart another chance as other people have told me it was just that particular store.

I don’t mind taking my younger kids to the store but the teen and husband are a different story. Those two always make the grocery bill way too high as they want everything in the store.

The new super walmart has a huge pick up area, it’s as big as a parking lot section. I haven’t tried it yet but it sounds and looks impressive.
