I was going through and doing our bills and budget today since we got paid, and I was looking at a statement we received, that was supposed to have NO INTEREST for 18 months, and guess what came out on the very first statement??? INTEREST! (grrrrrr). I didn’t waste any time calling them. The lady that helped me was very nice and I simply told her that when I signed up for the card, they told me it would have 18 months no interest, and I am getting charged interest….
She apologized and said that whoever entered the information didn’t code it correctly…She fixed it and said that all charged interest would be credited. Fortunately this was the first statement so we caught it right away, but what if we hadn’t checked close? That is a LOT of extra money we would have paid out!
Make sure you look at every billing statement you receive and check for things like that. It is very common for companies to not realize or even to put in things that come out and your are charged for. This is especially common on phone bills, cable bills, and credit cards. Just be sure you glance over everything so that you can make sure all the charges are ligament as well as the details being up to date.
If you find a discrepancy, be sure to call them right away and let them know. Most companies will work with you and help correct the problem. If the company you are working with is not great at this, look for a better company if you have the option.
Knowing what you are paying and to who will also help give you control of your finances.
Have you ever had problems with your billing statements? I would love to hear how you handled it.

That’s a great tip. There are so many mistakes and they can add up.
