With my kids in sports all of the time – I decided I should put together a Sports First Aid Kit. I grew up on sports – played tee-ball and basketball from the time I could walk- and ended up with a very dedicated basketball career through high school. I decided to become a computer nerd and not play college sports – but that didn’t lessen my love for the sport and I still scrimmaged with the boys all the time. My kids have picked up my (and my husbands) love of sports and so we are regularly in the gym, or on the field. During one of my 7 year olds basketball games she got cut, and needed a band aid. I didn’t have one – and it took the coaches like 5 minutes to find one – – – This has brought me to the realization that I need to keep a Sports First Aid Kit with me at all times.
What to put in a Sports First Aid Kit will depend on what you or your children play. This is a basic overview that you need to have in any sports first aid kit:
- Wound and Skin Cleanser
- Bandages
- Gauze
- Sanitizer
- Eye drops
- Safety Pins
- Scissors
- Tweezers
- Flashlight
- Latex Gloves
- Baggies
- Mouth guard
- Sports tape
- Ice Pack
- Sunscreen
- Medicine
This is a small list and what we use – there are many other items you can and should add as you find a need for them. Keep them in a bag and put it in your sports bag or in your purse – or even keep it in your car.
I mentioned a Wound & Skin Cleanser. I was referring to something like Puracyn® Plus Duo-Care™ Wound & Skin Cleanser. It is a duo-care wound & skin cleanser and is a great 1-step wound management system. Whether your kids are on the field or in the backyard – there is always potential for scrapes and cuts. Cleaning a wound is a critical step and when you are in the middle of a game – you want something quick and effective. It eliminates the needs for running water or messy ointments for thoroughly cleaning wounds. You can learn more about Puracyn® Plus on their Website, Facebook, and Pinterest.
You may not realize, but the New Puracyn® Plus Duo-Care™ Wound & Skin Cleanser is an amazing first aid tool. It cleanses, debrides, and hydrates wounds with its special formulated pH balanced, hypochlorous solution. The makes it so much easier to treat and care for minor, painful cuts and abrasions, burns and rashes, and insect bites because it is safe, effective and an advanced alternative to saline solution.
If you have small children that balk at the idea of a spray when they are hurt, you can feel confident in using Puracyn® Plus because it is non-stinging, non-irritating, and free of antibiotics, steroids, and alcohol, and completely safe for use virtually anywhere on the body (even the eyes, ears and mouth!).
Another great product is the Puracyn® Plus Foot Wash & Skin Cleanser. It is the safe, effective, FIRST step in first aid for foot sores and irritations, blisters, dry and cracked feet, and rashes.
